I discovered Laughter Yoga quite by mistake.
I lived in the USA and had moved State and was finding it a challenge to meet people so I joined a wellbeing group where one evening we looked at Laughter yoga; I was hooked from that first night in how it connected people.
I later moved to Scotland and hoped to find a LY club, but as there was not a nearby one I decided to train and start my own. I did leadership training in Glasgow then teacher training in Bangalore.
I work as a Complementary Therapist as I'm only too aware of the wonderful health benefits of laughter.
Laughter yoga takes me to a different setting with lots of diverse groups, and I am continually amazed at how wonderful Laughter yoga is and the benefits people get from it I feel truly blessed to be able to share this.

"He transformed us from a group of 130 tired, nervous sceptics to a room full of beaming, open-hearted companions. Within minutes of his session opening, the energy levels in the conference hall changed. Bodies relaxed, spirits were lifted and we connected, naturally and simply with the people beside and around us. When the next formal conference session started, we were open, ready, receptive and full of energy and optimism.”
Jane Willis, Director, Willis Newson
Winner of a Royal Society for Public Health Arts and Health Award 2010#
"I thought that you were engaging, honest, funny, energy changing, transformative, authentic, and very much enjoyed by all our members the evening you came and made us laugh and also look at ourselves and what makes life important, interesting and fun."
John Cato, Chairman of Bristol YES Group
In 2002, my life changed when I discovered Laughter Yoga and I have been spreading laughter and happiness ever since. I trained with Dr Kataria becoming a Laughter Yoga Teacher and in 2006 was awarded Laughter Yoga Ambassador status. My teaching is a fusion of Laughter and yoga. This approach helps to develop a positive attitude, teaching an understanding of the mind/body relationship and encourages participants to empower themselves by taking responsibility for their own wellbeing. In 2010, I developed a six week Stressless Living course which I have run several times at Gt Ormond Street Hospital.
I have taken laughter into the whole of society from class rooms to board rooms, from hospitals to health resorts. I am a regular Guest Presenter at Champney's Health Resorts and a Wellbeing Expert for Aromatherapy Associates. Several TV and radio programmes have featured my work.
Laughter Yoga exercises brought me out of seven years of chronic unremitting back pain together with several years of depression, breakdown and PTSD. My life was transformed - I now seek to educate, inspire and uplift others, through spreading the message that laughter yoga can help our minds, bodies and spirits towards better health. I regularly run talks and interactive sessions in Laughter for Wellness and Wellbeing at health, support, social and retirement groups; as well as running regular monthly Laughter Clubs. I am also available for staff wellbeing sessions in the public and corporate workspace and within staff training days. I create bespoke sessions that combine Laughter Yoga with other helpful exercises where appropriate, such as meditation, brain gym, mindfulness, positive thinking and a variety of fun and silly games designed to unleash our inner six-year-old!
Life changed irrevocably in 1996 when Linda’s 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with incurable heart disease. Her husband’s diagnosis (it’s genetic) and him leaving work, compounded everything and suddenly Linda – a fun, positive Area Manager for a major cancer charity - became a carer!
Years, multiple health/life challenges later and, Linda, now a qualified Holistic Therapist, loved using laughter to try to raise the low moods of her two very poorly ‘carees’– who now had heart failure. Although always positive, Linda felt her bubbly personality slipping away; she heard about Laughter Yoga and just knew she had to do it! Two years later, she managed to train arriving with a walking stick re back/leg problems. Eureka! Laughter Yoga’s exactly what Linda needed!! It greatly benefits family and clients but more importantly it’s given Linda her mojo back and the walking stick’s no more!!
Linda, a Laughter Yoga Leader and Coach, Gibberish and Art of Nonsense Coach and Laughter Yoga Leader Teacher, loves life, people and her ‘work,’ and enthusiastically shares fun, positivity and Therapeutic Laughter far and wide within her business and many charities, corporations and groups offering bespoke individual and group activities/workshops.

I started laughing at an early age and only realised many years later that it can offer such terrific health benefits. We started our Laughter Yoga club in York after visiting the Laughter Festival in 2016 and were hooked straight away. In my everyday life, I am a Health & Safety Consultant and unlike most of my peers, I always do my job with a smile on my face… which is quite disarming for managers who meet me. Keep Laughing… it will bring us all together as one!
Laughter links you up to your higher self, to your heart, to your creative mind, to infinite possibilities now. Do not wait for all your problems to disappear before you laugh again. The trick is to laugh now, let go now, have fun now, dance now, smile now. Laughter transforms perception. Every Time You Laugh, You Win.
